Virtual ERA

Virtual ERA Full courses are no longer approved, only virtual ERA recertification courses.

The ERA Recertification Virtual is a virtual course with 3 components to complete. The ERA Recertification Online Training Module is the same as that for the Full ERA Recertification, and this can take from 5-11 hours of effort. There is an additional requirement in the ERA Recertification Virtual for students to create and upload lab demonstrations and group discussion via Flip grip, which may take about 10 hours to accomplish. Several of these topics require a partner.  Your partner can be a student or not, and we have had students use family members as young as 5 to complete this.  Students must purchase a Sideline Venue Emergency Response Kit (SVERK) or obtain the supplies and equipment needed.  Students must attend a 1.5 day synchronous ZOOM course.

Some assigned items are due a week ahead of the scheduled Virtual ERA recertification, please verify when registering that you have enough time to complete all requirements.

For the FLIPGRID portion there are several topics in the lab sessions you must demonstrate on another person. This person can be just about anyone. Children as young as 5 have been great partners as well as spouses, roommates, parents and friends.

For the practical assessment on Day 2 of the ZOOM course you will need your partner for approximately 30 minutes during testing. Testing order and approximate times are determined by the group in the session at the end of Day 1.

Flipgrid is an education based app that allows instructors and students to interact through the upload of videos, documents and presentations. For the ERA Virtual, this is your lab session.

The Sideline Venue Emergency Response Kit (SVERK) or equivalent is required to ensure that students and instructors are all using the same supplies and equipment and to ensure equity in testing. The Kit or its equivalent is required for the ERA Virtual course.

There is no available CPR in the ERA Virtual course.

Students must complete all prerequisite work 8-days prior to the synchronous ZOOM course so that instructors have time to provide feedback to each student prior to the live session. If students do not complete all the prerequisites they cannot attend the scheduled synchronous ZOOM session. Students may request via email to be moved to a later course.
