CrossFit Introduces New Safety Measures for Future Events
In response to the tragic loss of competitor Lazar Đukić at the 2024 CrossFit Games, CrossFit has announced comprehensive updates to improve safety at future events. Key actions include appointing a senior safety leader, forming a Safety Advisory Board, and suspending open-water swimming in favor of controlled environments.
CrossFit is taking additional measures to include enhanced emergency rehearsals, expanded mental health support, and creating an Athlete Council to provide competitors with a stronger voice in safety and competition protocols. These changes aim to ensure a safer environment for athletes and staff alike.
