The Obstacle Course Athlete

A fast growing competitive group of events, obstacle course races run the gamut of low risk to extreme in their nature. Sports providers need to understand the risks these athletes undertake and the care needed to keep them going.

This online training module on the Obstacle Course Athlete is used for the completion of your ERA Recertification. Please make sure you have registered for an ERA Recertification Course HERE, before attempting to complete this module.

Objectives:

After completing this session, the learner will:

  • Identify the two types of obstacle course athletes and the difference inherent in body type, training, and execution on the course
  • Achieve an understand of the anatomical forces characteristic of training and how to recognize, treat, and avoid injury while improving perfomance
  • Understand the anatomy and physiology of healing specific to the obstacle course athlete
  • Understand the mentality of the obstacle course athlete
